Microsoft Rewrites Paint for Windows 10 Earlier this year, leaks previewing universal versions of apps such as Notepad and Paint started appearing on the Windows Store. Many users were anticipating the updates would become available with the release of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. For Microsoft, it’s been a five-year transition modernizing many of the built-in components in Windows. At the company’s software developer conference, Build, Microsoft introduced a tool called Desktop Bridge to help developers package their legacy desktop applications into universal apps, providing a means to distribute desktop apps through the Windows Store....

Apple users will have to set their devices to sync e-mail periodically or manually, because, until Apple appeals to the injunction ruling, it can’t offer push e-mail delivery for iCloud and MobileMe users. Apple has already posted a guide on its website (it applies, of course, just to users in Germany), teaching users how to set their device to download new e-mails at regular intervals. The guide states that “Apple believes Motorola’s patent is invalid and is appealing the decision”, but until that happens, people situated between German borders will have to just go along with it....

The website is called 3D Vision Live and it features quite a bit of content that can be enjoyed if you own a 3D stereoscopic kit and, especially, some of the devices featuring Nvidia’s own 3D Vision technology. I love to read, and these days, I primarily read just eBooks. It took me a little time to get comfortable with reading from a tablet vs. paper. Korean portal Daum, quoting a high-ranked Samsung official, says the company is planning to launch a smartphones using a 2 GHz dual-core processor, thus giving these smartphones a total power of 4 GHz. That’s comparable to some laptops and faster than quite a few netbooks. What would this mean? Well, it would make the idea of the smartphone replacing computers even more viable, provided that the screen is big enough and you don’t mind carrying around a small Bluetooth keyboard (I already do)....

If only there were a free alternative that worked… Well, I found one! Filesanywhere is an internet fax service, but it is based on a software system that works like Dropbox. They give you 1GB of free online storage, and there is even an Android app that lets you access these files and fax them from your phone....

It would seem that a bug in the Skype Windows client was the source of the crash. To be more specific, “a cluster of support servers responsible for offline instant messaging became overloaded” and caused Skype clients to receive delayed responses from the servers. One version of the Skype Windows client (5.0.0152) couldn’t process the responses correctly, and crashed. Users running the latest version were not affected, nor were users running versions for other devices or operating systems....

How To Exit or Stop Explorer.exe In Windows 7 Click the Windows Start Menu to open it up. Next, hold the Shift and Ctrl keys on your keyboard simultaneously. Then right-click an empty area on the start menu. A small context menu should appear; click Exit Explorer. That’s it. No more taskbar, and all of your open Explorer (C: My Documents, My Music, etc.) windows will all close. So now that it’s gone, any changes you made to Explorer will now be applied....
